While in Library, you gain +1 absorption. Magic attacks played against you deal +1 damage.
The glyphs on this breastplate grant protection against blades and arrows. But they don't react well when struck by magic.

As the signature talisman in early Brawl boss decks, the Breastplate can be a powerful obstacle against newer players for its extra defense and lack of anti-defense at those stages. Newer player may eventually get over these talismans with several important cards: Planned Assault, Blades of Glory and Spirits of Justice. Rewlf2 08:44, March 13, 2012 (UTC)
I have noticed that in decks that have multiples of these, magic attacks are unaffected by this card, due to the fact that they gain a bonus since they are non-weapon attacks. As such, cards that reduce an opponent's absorbtion to 0, such as Guildbert's Curse, allow magic attacks to deal considerably more damage since they get an added bonus for each Breastplate in the opponents deck.
