Card Description
Grigori entered the dueling circle and his opponent snickered. The soldier was young, strong, and held a nasty-looking saber. Grigori's frail frame looked like it barely had the muscle necessary to stand, let alone swing his small knife.
Grigori's yellowing rictus grin caused the soldier to hesitate for an instant. The little old man looked like he was in on a joke nobody else was aware of.
The soldier recovered his composure and stepped forward. He snapped off a lazy fencer's salute with his sword. Grigori didn't move.
"Let's get it over with, soldier boy," the old man said. "I'm not getting any younger and I'll need to get started on preparing dinner for the camp once I've removed you from the gene pool."
The young man gave a battle cry and lunged forward, his blade extended. Grigori moved with surprising speed, sliding out of the way and letting the soldier's momentum carry him past.
Just as his opponent passed by, Grigori slammed his knife home into the young man's side. The small blade punched through the chain shirt and the soldier stumbled to his knees a second later.
Grigori sauntered over to the soldier, who was staring down at the knife in shock. Blood was already flowing from the wound.
The old cook grabbed the knife handle and wrenched it out of the soldier's side. There was a weak scream, a small river of blood, and a stunned silence from the crowd of onlookers.
Standing over the body, Grigori leered down. He could feel his unholy tattoo, the mark of his pact with the dark powers of West Kruna, pulsing on his arm.
"The outcome to this was guaranteed long ago," he chortled. "You never stood a chance."
